RSDS 2007: International Solidarity Conference on Climate Change Strategies for the African and Mediterranean Regions

The second RSDS, ‘International Solidarity Conference on Climate Change Strategies for the African and Mediterranean Regions’ was hosted by Government of Tunisia in Tunis, Tunisia from 18 to 20 November 2007. It aimed at engaging multi-stakeholders in addressing vulnerability and impacts of climate change in Africa & Mediterranean regions; mainstreaming climate change in African sustainable development planning, advancing on mitigation and adaptation measures at various levels; strengthening the cooperation of stakeholders engaged in addressing climate change; and agree on a common African and Mediterranean input for COP 13/MoP 3 in Bali.

Participants included policy-makers, representatives from donor countries; climate change experts; representatives of involved multilateral institutions; private sector; and representatives of civil society organizations. Participants also included ministers from 20 countries of Africa and the Mediterranean Region drafting and endorsing the key output from the conference in the form of a ‘Tunis declaration and action plan for International Solidarity against Climate Change’.
